When I originally started this blog it was to chronicle my efforts in regaining ownership of my first domain name. I can say that after all of the research into who bought (read: stole) it from me in the first place that I did not harass the new owner. I did try call and offer my web development and hosting services in exchange for my domain back. When they did not respond I decided to try the wait and see approach. The new owners made dreadloc haircare products and me being a long time dreadhead myself I was kinda interested in seeing what they would turn my bnappy.com into. For a while there was a coming soon image on the site, after that it was a generic image from their hosting company. But sometime early last year the site was just 404 (read: not found) and that's when I got my hopes up, only to find that it auto renewed in July. On January 9th 2007(which is on the anniversary of my fraternity being founded) I checked and discovered that BNAPPY.COM is available, and I purchased it. Bnappy ~b December 10 Makana and ElmoMakana found a big Elmo doll at the store. Its gonns be real hard to get him to let go. December 03 Makana at Chuckie CheeseMakana had such a great time that he threw a fit when it was time to go. But he was happy to get a balloon for his tickets. Update on the bnappy.com SagaApparently the current owner of my first domain name 'bnappy.com' has it on an automatic renew. It was scheduled expire this past July and it ended up getting renewed for another year. Shortly after the renew date the coming soon page went down and has been a broken link every since.
I'm not sure what they plan to do with the domain but I'm on the brink of calling them and offering them 1 free year of hosting of their original domain on my server as well as reimbursing them for the remainder of their domain name fee. I want to use it, it was mine and they are just squatting.

I'm sure there are many reasons and ways these spaces can be used but let me tell you why I've gone this route. For over 5 years my digital persona has been 'bnappy', most of my friends call me bnappy as well. This name makes perfect sense when you see my dreadlocks. Many of my emails contain the word 'bnappy' and for a few years I even held the domain 'bnappy.com'. After a year of digital strife and issues with my hosting environment I found out that I let my domain expire. (gasps can still be heard as the story is told) And as my luck would have it someone else has purchased my domain. I can not begin to explain the shock and dismay I felt when I learned that news. Although, someone else now owns 'bnappy.com' I am still the ORIGINAL BNAPPY and I plan to use this space to continue what I started. Just a place for me to behappy as bnappy. I also plan to hearld my cause which is to once return the domain name 'bnappy.com' to it's rightful owner. (myself) Feel free to post any similar experiences or if you have thoughts good or bad about my plight. Also, if you have had any nappy experiences I would like to hear about them as well. |
